The corridor on the ground floor at SAUM served as the
venue for our appreciation lunch last Sunday, November 28. With a touch
of class from Lucy Ho, that place was transformed to look, in the words
of one gentleman, “like a five-star hotel.” Beautifully covered tables
with wrapped gifts and glowing candles, ceiling decorations, and soft
instrumental Christmas music greeted the 62 diners as they arrived.
The brief program started in the auditorium where Pastor Fabien expressed
his gratitude individually to the elders and other church board members,
as well as to other church officers, ministry leaders, and members. He
then gave away a few surprise tokens and presented a 10-minute slide show
highlighting events that took place at SDACC during the year 2010, ending
with “To God Be the Glory” (refrain from “My Tribute” by Andrae Crouch).
After a prayer of blessing by Roger Wong, everyone moved to the cafeteria
where awaited a generous, sumptuous meal. Patrons had enough and to spare;
in fact many were able to carry home lots of extra food. Each participant
also received the token of the year—a mug printed with the church logo,
address, contact info, and website, along with the words “Appreciation
2010.” Indeed, to God be the glory for the things He has done.”
